After 18 years, Hey! Hey! Hey! Music Champ has finally come to an end. I used to catch the episodes airing on the International channel as a teenager, and watched religiously until about a year ago. After that, I’d catch episodes uploaded here and there, but could never really find time to watch them all. Just the other day, I figured I’d catch up since I had a day off of work, only to find that my hard drive had crashed on me, taking hostage the 80 gbs or so of Hey!x3 episodes with it.
Coming online, I find out that the show had ended it’s 18 year run, and the news gutted me like a slab of tuna.
Still, I’m glad it’s not the end of Downtown. If Gaki no Tsukai were to end, I’d overturn all the tables in every LA diner. If Downtown decided to call it quits, I’d mourn them like I lost a grandfather.
Anyway, with news (though rather belated) about the end of Hey!x3 comes the end of Nina My Love Volume 1. I bet you all thought we’d never get around to it, huh? Kekeke. Not sure how many of you are still interested in this series seeing as it’s been a heckuva long time since the last release. (560 Days? WTH?). But I hope that you’ll nab this chapter and read it anyway because it’s really good. Thanks to hard work of our staff, especially our new typesetter, shuyiin, we were able to get the ball rolling again on this project. You’ll be seeing the next chapter in our following April release.

No, that’s Kiko Mizuhara. I became fascinated with her after my ex-bf called her my “twin”: We’re both freakishly thin, sport the same hairstyle (post-her-role-in-Norwegian-Wood) and have similar features. I think she’s goddamn sexy for a girl who eats like a bird.

It’s not Hey!x3, but I went through a similar feeling with Law & Order. I’d never really watched the drama at all until I caught an episode at a friend’s house during freshman year of college (oh, to be 19 again…) and suddenly I was hooked. I have to clarify that it was the seasons with Jerry Orbach (who played wisecracking Lennie Briscoe) that I fell in love with. We got cable that year and I relished the thought of marathon sessions watching his character nab baddies. And then, much to my sorrow, I found out that he’d passed away a couple months later. Heart. Crushed. I’m consoled that I can watch reruns and he will be there, but that realization that day that I’d never see anything new with him in it, is a pain that I’ll always remember. *sniffle*
I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t seen a single episode of Law & Order. I really only started paying attention to American television in 1997 and my first exposure to a series about law was Ally Mcbeal, and even that wasn’t really about law in the end, was it? It doesn’t help that my family was too poor to afford cable, and it’s now become my habit to ignore the TV or use it as a prop to stack my books on top of. Anyway, you’ve got my interest on this one. I know that Jerry Orbach played the brother of the main character in a Woody Allen film ages ago. If I could remember that he was in the movie, that means he’s “something”. I still don’t have cable though. Looks like Netflix will be my savior this time around.

Also, the only reason we got it was because my mom wanted to watch Chinese programs and persuaded my dad. Ally McBeal brings back memories, but I started watching when Lucy Liu was added to the cast. Anyway, I haven’t had television for years so I’m totally out of the loop. I just got netflix a couple of months ago. Zomg so amazing, even though I don’t really watch that much tv/movies unless I’m sitting down with the boyfriend. I’m more likely to be reading manga or cooking.
