Blood Sweat &…Heels? 9th Year Anniversary Part 1

Just so you know, (because I’ve been dying to tell this story) I went on a road trip with my family not too long ago. All eight of us crammed into the van like sardines, including my infamous sister-in-law. (Yep, that’s right. The one who pretended her foot was hurt to get out of bringing me her wedding invitation.) (Which I can relate to. You invite who you want to invite when it’s YOUR wedding.) (What I can’t relate to is faking an injury.)

(But I digress!)

Somehow we ended up together in the snack aisle at a rest stop. I forget what was said, exactly. She was pissed about everyone not wanting to turn around to go and help her friend whose car broke down. Mimi Papa started to say, “We don’t have tools…”, but Mimi Mama shut him down real fast with an elbow to the stomach.

Anyway, at this point her hair was twisted up in Princess Leia buns. So Princess Leia was up in my face, ranting about how, “…If Jesus’ car broke down, you’d all go and save him right away,” and then my youngest brother, the 19-year-old reformed Mike-Shinoda-wannabe, was like, “Jesus could walk on water, so he wouldn’t need our help,” which was probably the most blasphemous thing she had ever heard in her life because she looked like she was about to cry.

Fed up with the drama, I said, “I came here to use the bathroom, so I’m going to go use the bathroom.”

As I walked away, the 5-foot-one Princess Leia yelled at my retreating back, “Yeah, go ahead and run!”

Instead of going to punch her in the face, I went to sit on the toilet seat, leggings bunched at my ankles, snorting with laughter.

Disclaimer 1: I swear I didn’t actually think of punching her in the face!

Disclaimer 2: Next time we fly!

I’m pretty sure I’m not even using disclaimers correctly. Yep, I’m the same woman in charge of Stiletto Heels Team. Oh, man. I worry for our staff. I mean, I pretty much select people to join based on my gut feeling…

But somehow or other, we managed to string along for nine years. We may have missed a couple of anniversaries – our 6th and 8th – along the way, but we’re in it for the long haul. After our 7th anniversary, our lives got so busy. But our goal for the next year is to be busier with bringing to our readers more consistent releases of some of the best Josei and shoujo series out there.

I really need to thank SwirlyOwl for encouraging me to return. I was one step away from disappearing. Swirly, without your PMs asking me for updates, I probably would have called it quits…

And the ultimate surprise came when so many people showed up for roll call. I seriously screamed like a schoolgirl when I saw Megan, badzphoto, Jel, hirolove, and Aerial, and then melted into a puddle of feels when Lilanar and Minelauva showed up as well. Like, omg, I couldn’t believe I was going to run away from these wonderful people. No, I’m not calling it quits just yet!

Now onto releases…

We had 9 chapters planned in celebration of the 9 years we’ve been active. The 9th release will be a special feature post on Suppli by Okazaki Mari, but to make it extra special, we will be adding some other releases from ongoing projects as well. Be sure to come and visit us again this Saturday, 8/04!
